# Nagoya to Hakuba

Board the [Limited Express Shinano](https://www.nagoyastation.com/the-limited-express-shinano-for-nagano-matsumoto/), also called the Wide View Shinano train at Nagoya, going towards Nagano Station; once you get to Nagano Station, take the bus at gate 26 to Hakuba. **Estimated time and cost: 4 hours, ¥9,330.** From Nagano Station, you can either take the bus or a chartered taxi (please see [Nagano to Hakuba](https://thehakubacollection.com/hakuba/access/nagano-to-hakuba) for the bus schedule)

Alternatively, stay on the Shinano only as far as Matsumoto (~2 hours), then transfer to the JR Ōito Line for a direct local train to Hakuba (~1 hour). This is often faster and cheaper than routing via Nagano — check the Ōito Line times, as departures are infrequent.

## Nagoya to Hakuba Bus

 

JamJam Liner runs one overnight ski bus from Nagoya to Hakuba during the winter season. It departs late at night from the Nagoya Station Shinkansen (east) exit and arrives in Hakuba the next morning — roughly a 7-hour trip. This is a winter-only service, and the reservation cut-off is 16:00 on the day of departure. Confirm the current timetable and fare on JamJam's site before booking, as both change each season.

## Car Rental from Nagoya to Hakuba

 

Rent a car in Nagoya and drive to Hakuba. Estimated time and cost: 3 h 30 min; rate depends on car size, but a Toyota Noah will run you around ¥20,900 per day from [Toyota Rent a Car](https://rent.toyota.co.jp/eng/). Tolls are approximately ¥5,390 if you use the toll road.

Please remember that if you are coming to Hakuba in the wintertime, you will need to reserve a 4WD with winter tires as a special option with availability, depending on the pick-up location.
