A single-level chalet in the forest of Upper Wadano, three minutes on foot from the Sakka lifts at Happo-One. Three en-suite bedrooms and a fireplace.
Sakka Rocks sits among the trees of Upper Wadano, at the quiet northern end of Happo-One. The Sakka lifts are a three-minute walk away, yet the house turns towards the forest and there is no passing traffic. In winter you hear the fire. In summer, the birds.
Everything is on one floor: 196 square metres, with the living room at its centre under a high ceiling and a wall of glass onto the trees. Each of the three bedrooms has its own bathroom and can be made up with a king or two singles, so two families or three couples can share the house without ever waiting for a shower.
In winter, the Sakka slope is the gentlest beginner terrain on the mountain, and the Kitaone quad above it opens up the rest of Happo-One, so a group of mixed ability can ski the same morning without skiing the same runs. Boots and boards go straight into the drying room by the front door and are dry by breakfast.
Summer brings the green right up to the glass. Dinner moves out to the garden table, and the barbecue can be booked from early May through to late autumn.
The kitchen is built around a large Toyo Kitchen island with Miele appliances. There is underfloor heating in every room and parking for two cars.
We don't supply toothbrushes, to cut single-use waste, so please bring your own.
