Hakuba Ski & Snowboard Rentals 2026/27

Save time and money by comparing all major Hakuba ski rental shops in one place. Prices below are for standard 5-day packages including skis, boots, and poles. Online bookings are normally available from December 15th and if the ski resorts are open earlier, rentals will be available on a walk-in basis.

A standard adult ski or snowboard package in Hakuba runs ¥6,500–¥8,600 for one day and ¥25,000–¥31,000 for five days, depending on the shop. Demo and premium gear adds roughly 25–30% — Central's premium package is ¥10,700 a day against ¥8,600 for standard.

Kids are usually a little over half the adult rate. Central charges ¥20,300 for a five-day standard package for under-13s; Spicy starts kids' day rates at ¥4,000.

Boots, helmets and clothing are priced separately almost everywhere. Budget another ¥1,500 a day for a helmet and ¥5,000 a day for a jacket-and-pants set if you're arriving without gear.

Two things that catch people out: nearly every shop charges for damage insurance separately (Central is ¥1,000 per hire regardless of length), and swapping from skis to a board is only free once at most shops — after that it's ¥1,000–¥1,500 a change.

Spicy is locally owned and operated, with four shops throughout the valley.

Rhythm has the most extensive retail inventory in Hakuba, so they offer the best selection if you need new gloves or goggles. Pre-bookings are highly recommended, as walk-ins are limited on certain days.

• Rhythm does not automatically pick up your gear when you leave; you must call them and meet with them in person to return it.

Lion Gear Rental is locally owned and operated. Its brand new store is located on Echoland's main street.

• Leave your rental gear at their shop (Happo) at the end of the day.
